Oakfield Wood Wrabness is an idyllic and serene Green Natural Woodland Burial Ground situated on the banks of the River Stour in North Essex. In addition to Woodland Burials, we are now working towards our future aim of creating; a Chapel of Rest, a Ceremony Hall and an innovative facility to offer a natural End of Life alternative to cremation as part of the funeral and burial packages we offer.

Oakfield Wood at Wrabness opened almost 3 decades ago, aiming to be the antithesis of traditional cemeteries and offering alternative choices for lovers of nature and wildlife. The woodland burial ground has matured into a serene and peaceful haven of vibrant greens, leafy shade and a stunning blaze of natural colours. It's a place of open skies, trees and birds, and overlooks the beautiful River Stour. In the summer it buzzes with insects and the life of nature and because it is a protected woodland it provides a forever undisturbed resting place for all who choose this stunning spot.
Environmentally friendly and affordable.
Oakfield Wood offers an environmentally friendly, cost effective alternative to traditional burials, cemeteries and graveyards. Our policy is to keep our prices very competitive. Unlike other companies; we do not offer tiered levels of service, or more exclusive sections of our woodland for those who wish to pay more. All plots are equal. We offer both full burials and ashes interments, and they are given the same amount of space within the woodland, allowing the trees and woodland to develop at an equal place.

Oakfield Wood Wrabness is an English Native broad leaved woodland. We plant ONLY NATIVE English trees from 18 month old saplings for the best possible results.
In England, the English oak has assumed the status of a national emblem. An oak tree has been depicted on the reverse of the pound coin and a sprig of oak leaves and acorns is the emblem of the National Trust.
Tree Planting
We plant trees in the dormant season working with advice from the forestry commission using the six native trees species listed opposite.
