Ensuring the long term health of Oakfield Woodland is vitally important. Great care and consideration is taken to ensure that the most suitable species of trees and their placement with neighbouring trees are chosen. The most suitable tree type will be chosen, determined by its location, to allow and encourage the essential symbiosis and support between trees.
Oakfield Wood, Wrabness is an English Native Woodland. We plant ONLY NATIVE English trees from 18 month old saplings for the best possible results including: English Oak (Quercus robur), Silver Birch (Betula pendula), Wild Service (Sorbus torminalis), Hornbeam (Carpinus Betulus), Hazel (Corylus), Field Maple (Acer campestre). We plant trees in the dormant season (cold weather) working with advice from the forestry commission.
Report a Tree
Sometimes, one of the Trees of Oakfield Wood Wrabness requires attention by one of our experienced team members. With over 2000 trees to look after, it is very helpful if a member of the public can let us know about something they have spotted. So please, drop us a message to let us know of any issues with the trees.
Our woodland burial grounds are protected by the Essex Wildlife Trust and so offer permanent resting places that will forever remain completely undisturbed. Full or Ashes Interments include the planting of a Tree and a Plaque of Remembrance. For more information, please contact our friendly, compassionate team on 01255 880521
