A Greener Alternative
Oakfield Wood Wrabness is an idyllic and serene Green Natural Woodland Burial Ground situated on the banks of the River Stour in North Essex. In addition to Woodland Burials, we are now working towards our future aim of creating; a Chapel of Rest, a Ceremony Hall and an innovative facility to offer a natural End of Life alternative to cremation as part of the funeral and burial packages we offer.

Bamboo supporting the natural woodland environment.
Oakfield Wood Wrabness is introducing the use and sale of bamboo pots for the burial grounds. Bamboo provides a perfectly biodegradable pot for flowers, which supports the natural environment of the woodland. To maintain the beautiful natural environment of the woodland for nature, wildlife and visitors, we now ask visitors to stop bringing plastic or glass jars for flowers. Any found will be removed. Bamboo pots will be buried at each plot to reveal only the top inch. The fl

On 7th & 8th June 2025, Wrabness Church was adorned with an abundance of colourful local flora thanks to the Wrabness Village Flower Festival. Members of the local community came together to celebrate the unparalleled beauty of mother nature and to raise essential funds for the upkeep of the ancient and historic Wrabness Church. Final winter cutting of hedges is now underway at Oakfield Wood Natural Woodland Burial Ground, in preparation for the spring and allowing the birds to nest from March to September without being disturbed. All trees are planted and we are up to date with all interments. When Spring arrives our next task will be to conduct maintenance on the tracks and parking areas. Ensuring the long term health of Oakfield Woodland is vitally important. Great care and consideration is taken to ensure that the most suitable species of trees and their placement with neighbouring trees are chosen. The most suitable tree type will be chosen, determined by its location, to allow and encourage the essential symbiosis and support between trees. Oakfield Wood, Wrabness is an English Native Woodland. We plant ONLY NATIVE English trees from 18 month old saplings
