Oakfield Wood Notice Board

Updated: 4 days ago

Now that the festive season is over, all Seasonal decorations will be carefully and considerately removed for the benefit of the soil and woodland.

Tree planting has resumed at Oakfield Wood now that the colder temperatures have arrived.
Cold weather means that trees are dormant, which is the perfect time for planting / maintenance.
Ensuring the long term health of Oakfield Woodland is vitally important. Great care and consideration is taken to ensure that the most suitable species of trees and their placement with neighbouring trees are chosen. The most suitable tree type will be chosen, determined by its location, to allow and encourage the essential symbiosis and support between trees. We aim to complete all outstanding planting by the end of January 2025

We would like to wish you all a Very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year from all the Staff at Oakfield Wood Wrabness xx The office will be closed between 23 Dec - 01 Jan. Voicemail can be left and in case of an emergency there will be a number to call on the answer phone message.

Tree planting is delayed until January due to warm weather. The temperature is important to the long term health of each tree and this is a priority at Oakfield Wood

More and more people are choosing to go back to nature at the end of their lives. Becoming part of a protected natural habitat for nature, wildlife and birdlife offers families peace of mind and the reassurance that their loved ones will live on as part of something truly beautiful and teaming with life. Oakfield Wood in Wrabness is an idyllic and serene green woodland burial ground situated on the banks of the River Stour in North Essex.

Its was created over 25 years ago to provide one of the county’s first alternative and natural green burial sites and ‘Woodland of Remembrance’, which is now maturing into a stunning and peaceful wildlife habitat. Over 3,000 people have been laid to rest at the site and this has led to the need for a permanent visitor centre to support those visiting their loved ones.

We offer Full / Ashes Interments in a serene, natural, and protected resting place for your loved one and an environmentally friendly, cost effective & undisturbed alternative to traditional funerals, cemeteries and graveyards. Our woodland burial grounds are protected by the Essex Wildlife Trust and so offer permanent resting places that will forever remain completely undisturbed.

Full or Ashes Interments include the planting of a Tree and a Plaque of Remembrance. For more information, please contact our friendly, compassionate team on 01255 880521 or visit: https://www.oakfieldwoodwrabness.co.uk
